▷━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◁
Carcova was outstanding among Argentine painters working at the turn of the century. He studied painting in the mid-1880s at the Academia de la Sociedad Estímulo de Bellas Artes, in Buenos Aires, and then in Turin and Rome.
He produced portraits and still lifes in oils and pastels, and he became preoccupied with problems of light and atmosphere that led him to adopt an increasingly light palette and linked him to the Impressionist aesthetic, as in [Silent Nature] (exerpt from Grove Art Online, © Oxford University Press)
