[A Stop in the Grocery Store] presents the traditional types in the foreground, in a less successful compositional solution than in the artist's later works, to which it adds the color more intense than the usual, less harmonious, and the unusual wooden support in its use. However, the repertoire of motifs favored a laudable critical fortune.
The northern area, through which the artist moved, between San Isidro and Las Conchas had the highest concentration of grocery stores.
Among those that are not a simple ranch, La Blanqueada stood out in front of the Maciel farm, but it is not the one represented. It is already difficult to identify the road but if we consider another cart that the artist places at the end of it, it may be the so-called “de las carretas” that ran between lots of San Isidro.
