In the years 1883-93, Wyczolkowski very often visited Ukraine or Podolia, creating numerous paintings depicting scenes of fishing, collecting crayfish, plowing, digging beet, sowing grain, which he gave an impressionistic form. Around 1885, the first landscape studies with fishermen and beet-digging scenes were created.
